As we turn the pages of history we find out that on March 7, 1816, the institute was started as Tsisar-Royal Real School in Lemberg (Lviv). A technical school which was initiated with the help of the freshly introduced local industrial tax. In the syllabuses of the Royall School, the focus were the subjects of the natural-mathematical cycle, drawing, drawing & also on the study of new modern languages in order to maximize the reach to knowledge of the subjects beyond borders. The system royal-school educational adapted was based on German educational systems and the programs that it offered according to their local requirements. The newly built Royal School was made in a beautiful building on a street now known as Virmenska.

In 1825, by the powers of Royal Decree of the Austrian Emperor Franz I, the Tsissar-Royal Real School was updated into the Tsissar-Royal School of Technical Sciences & Trade and in the year 1835, it was turned into Tisar-Royal Real-Trade Academy, this is where the faculty of technical education was opened.

In 1844, the Tsisars-Royal Technical Academy started its operations in Lviv with technical & trade departments/faculties. At the time, it was one of the initial academic technical schools in Europe and definitely the first one in Ukraine.
