    PR & Citizenship In Portugal

    Despite going through major changes and inflation over the past few years, Portugal didn’t stop giving PR or residence permits to international students and workers. Here are some basic requirements to get Citizenship in Portugal as a Pakistani or International student.
  • If you were born in Portugal
  • If you were registered after 6 July 2018 and one of your parents have been legally residing in Portugal for at least 2 years.
  • If you were born abroad, but you are married or have a non-marital relationship with a Portuguese citizen for more than 3 years.
  • You may also get Portuguese Permanent Residency (PR) leading to the Citizenship by fulfilling following criteria;
    1. You are legally residing in Portugal for 5 years.
    2. You have a clean criminal record in Portugal.
    3. You have no outstanding taxes due in Portugal.
    4. You have basic knowledge of Portuguese language to A2 level.
    5. Proof of integration into the community.
      Work In Portugal: You cannot work in Portugal after completing your degree without any residence permit. You can apply for a 1-year residence permit to apply for a job which can be extended to 5 years. If you keep a hold on your job for 5 years, you can renew your residence permit every year or can apply for a permanent residency visa to Portugal.
